25 Years

2017. A most auspicious year it turns out. 25 years in business. Nemeth Law (then the Law Offices of Patricia Nemeth) opened in 1992, specializing in management labor and employment law.

1992 was right after the Anita Hill hearings. If you recall, Anita Hill accused Clarence Thomas, then nominated for an appointment to the United States Supreme Court, of sexual harassment when he was her boss at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. 1992 was the same year Silence of the Lambs won 5 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor (Anthony Hopkins), and Best Actress (Jodie Foster). Interestingly enough, also nominated in the best actress category were Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon for Thelma and Louise. So perhaps this was just my Thelma and Louise moment in time.

That moment in time has now become in excess of 788,400,000 moments in time. And no, I can’t say I’ve been aware of each and every one of them. I can say I have been more aware of some, and wish I had paid more attention to others when I had the chance. There are certain moments that are frozen in time. Snapshots. And when I reflect, not one has to do with the specific facts of cases that we’ve dealt with over the 25 years. The snapshots are of people. People who have been there. Time and again. Our employees who volunteer before we ask. The collaboration and synergy of our attorneys. Wise counsel from our corporate attorney, from our accountant. Our experts who are simply the best: technology, marketing, video, graphics, etc. Our clients who entrust their work to us. I think about the people we’ve been of service to in the last 25 years, to be honored to represent, to help along the way and to hopefully bring a modicum of peace to their lives. This, above all else, is what I am thankful for in these 25 years. It’s why I became an attorney. It's why I am proud to be an attorney.

Patricia Nemeth received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). She earned her Juris Doctorate and Masters of Labor Law degree from Wayne State University School of Law. She is the founding partner of Nemeth Law, P.C. which is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2017. Patricia decided to start a personal blog because she wanted to write about topics other than the law.
